1982 Sunright expanded into the business of distribution of high technology electronic equipment and materials when it set up Kestronics (S) Pte Ltd.

It expanded further abroad by setting up the first independent burn-in facility in Taiwan, KEST Systems & Service Pte Ltd, to capitalize on burn-in opportunities offered by the relocation of semiconductor manufacturing operations from the U.S. to Asia. KEST, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sunright, is located in the Science Based Industrial Park, Hsinchu, the major high technology industrial centre of Taiwan.

1983 Sunright expanded its distribution business network beyond Singapore to include Hong Kong in 1983. Kestronics Hong Kong was established as a wholly owned subsidiary of Kestronics (S) to engage in the distribution of sophisticated and high technology electronic equipment and materials.

The Group further expanded its burn-in operations in Malaysia when the first independent burn-in plant in Penang was established under KESP to undertake the “burn-in” business in the Bayan Lepas Free Trade Zone, Pulau Pinang. KESP is strategically located within the vicinity of major semiconductor manufacturers in Penang.

1984 After the successful penetration of burn-in markets in the region, Sunright decided to enter the U.S. burn-in market in 1984. KESU was set up that year to provide burn-in service and market burn-in boards to semiconductor manufacturers in the U.S. KESU was located in Midland, Texas.

1987 Following its successful entry into the U.S. burn-in market, the Company set up KESI, a marketing office in the U.S. with the assistance of a financial grant from the Economic Development Board (“EDB”) under the Market Development Assistance Scheme. The activities of KESI in the U.S. were later extended to include the manufacture of burn-in equipment to meet the needs of semiconductor manufacturers who still perform their manufacturing functions in the U.S. Besides manufacturing, KESI also undertook research and development work for the Group.

Kestronics (HK) established a representative office in Taiwan to tap the growing market for high technology electronics products.
